Liam didn't look up from his phone right away. He was seated by the window, legs crossed, tablet in hand. A moment later, he set it down and stood up. He walked over, sat beside her, and studied the board.

"You're not even trying," she said. He'd spent most of the game on his phone. Izzy hated it—but she understood. Liam had a company to run. Still, he hadn't left her side since the accident. No matter how many times she told him to go back, he always refused. She stared at him, a mix of frustration and quiet gratitude in her eyes.
