I watch her walk away until she disappears. Xade crosses the room to stand beside me. He lift my chin and when he sees the emotions swirling in my eyes, he pulls me in a hug. “She’s just shocked right now, she didn’t mean it,” he kissed my head many times, whispering that my mom loves me.

I clutch his shirt, needing that comforting feeling he always seems to invoke inside me when he is near. He holds me tight until I have calmed down a bit. “We should go, give her some space to think,” he suggested, kissing my nose when I pulled away.

I nod and Xade takes my hand in his and leads me outside to the vehicle. Before entering I turned back once more to stare at the house I had grown up and my gaze drop to the ground saddened.
