Chapter 238

Ten Months later....

"Say 'dada," Jacob coaxed Sienna, waving a little plushie in front of her. "Say 'dada.""

I chuckled as I prepared her snack bowl, shaking my head. "How many times are you going to make her say that?"

He pouted like a kid. "She only said it once! And now she won't say it again. Can you make her?"

I laughed softly. "If you keep pestering her, she'll never want to say it. You know she's got that sassy streak just like you."

Jacob grinned, nudging me. "Hey, that sass? Totally from you."

"Hey," I fired back, pretending to be offended, "Don't you dare pin that on me."

"Then maybe she got it from Samuel," he shrugged. "He's the sassiest one in this whole house."

I raised an eyebrow and gave him a warning look. "Let's not forget he's threatening to kick you out of his house for the rest of your trip here if you keep blaming him."

He smirked, confident. "Well, me and Sienna could totally beat your daddy- daughter duo any day. She's always on my side."

Right then, Sienna let out a tiny, frustrated baby yell-a clear "Dada!"—while reaching for the plushie Jacob had cleverly kept just out of reach.

"Oh my God, did you hear that?" Jacob started to boast.

Before he could finish, she snatched the toy from his hand, shooting him what I swear was a side-eye. Was that sass really from me?

"Yes, Jacob-I heard that loud and clear," I laughed. "And I saw how frustrated she was because you took her favorite toy just to get her to say it again. You're pure evil, you know that?"

Jacob feigned innocence. "That's just your imagination, miss. I was just creating the perfect opportunity for her to say my name."

"Yeah, same difference."
