Chapter 277

Willow knelt down and took her eldest son into her arms. “Tristan," she whispered gently, "You're only four. Only a child. I want you to discover the joys of playing with other children-innocent and carefree, with no worries in life. It's a wonderful thing."

"But I want to stay at home, playing with my tablet!" Tristan decided to be honest. The playground was a foolish place. He much preferred to be writing code, mining data, and crashing overrides.

It was challenging stuff and that was exactly why he liked it.

Willow considered this. She wasn't aware that her eldest son was already an elite hacker, so it just sounded to her as though he'd become addicted to video games, and that was why he could no longer find enjoyment in real life.

This would be a difficult conversation. "Tristan, the stuff you see in your tablet... it's all make-believe. None of it is real. The people around you, the things happening around you, that's what's real. Video games aren't everything, alright? How about this, we'll make a promise to each other: No more than half an hour on the tablet each day. The rest of your time has to be spent on reading, or playing with your siblings. Promise me?"

Tristan spent a moment in deliberation. Much could be learned within half an hour.

His mother looked worried. She was obviously concerned about him.
