Chapter 0687

Enzo

My consciousness returned slowly, my mind foggy and my limbs heavy as if I was emerging from anesthesia.

I blinked, my vision still blurred, as I strained to take in my surroundings. After a moment, I realize where I was. I was laying on the bed in my dimly lit hotel room. The darkness of night was pressed against the windows, although last I could remember, it had been the middle of the afternoon.

I groaned a little. How long had I been out? Maybe I had had too much to drink and had stumbled back to my room. Maybe three whiskeys at noon wasn't the best idea; Nina had probably been trying to call me all day.

"I should call her," I thought to myself as I began to roll over in search of my phone.

But then, a sharp pain cut through the haze just when I tried to sit up. I winced and fell back down onto the bed, looking down to see a rope binding my wrists to the metal bed frame.

"What the..."

It looked like a normal rope at first, but I quickly realized that it was threaded with shimmering silver strands. Pure silver; basically werewolf kryptonite. I could already feel the metal slowly sapping my strength.

"Finally awake, I see."

I blinked, looking toward the source of the voice, and that was when I saw the familiar female figure walking toward me. "Mila..."

She sauntered closer, her features slowly coming into focus as my vision finally cleared. Her lips were curled upwards into a satisfied smirk, and a chuckle rumbled in her throat.

With a growing sense of unease, memories of our conversation at the bar flooded back. The last thing I could remember was her apologizing, and then she had hugged me. Tightly. After that, everything felt... fuzzy.
