Chapter 0379

After that long conversation, Theodore felt as if a heavy weight had been lifted from his shoulders. Alden, on the other hand, was in shock. What kind of man had his father been to endure something like this? The whole story sounded absurd, yet it had to be true–after all, the man standing before him was his mirror image, or rather, he was a reflection of that man.

It was fascinating to think about who his father had been in the past, but it was clear that neither Peter nor Theodore would tell him. For now, Alden was just an ordinary schoolboy with no extraordinary life. Until a few months ago, his life had been free of the kind of chaos he was now entangled in. His priority was Grace, saving their baby from her father. His father’s past could wait. Besides, he felt utterly useless in the situation.

“Is Alden here?” came Peter’s voice.

“Yes, he’s in the study. The girl is asleep on the couch. What’s going on?” Theodore asked.

“We’re leaving,” Peter replied without hesitation.

He couldn’t find an easy way to say it. The truth was, Alden was his son, but as much as Peter analyzed the situation, it was clear Alden wasn’t ready for the harsh realities of the world. His son’s naivety or immaturity—was glaringly apparent. With
