Chapter 0594

Chapter 0594

A week had passed since Marcus had asked to speak with his lawyer–the same amount of time since Frederick had spoken to Valeric. At first, Frederick thought this was just a jealous outburst from Marcus, but after talking to Valerie, he realized his friend had a point. With no other clitice, he ended up contacting a lawyer in Valentia. Marcus requested an amicable divorce. They had two more children on the way and already shared two others. The reason cited would be irreconcilable differences–no one was to blame, but it was clear they couldn’t stay together no matter how hard they tried. The lawyer suggested couples therapy, but Marcus refused. If there was one thing he was sure of, it was that they were no longer a couple. It hurt to admit it, but maybe they never truly had been. Valerie had tied her life to his because she felt she had no other choice, not out of genuine love. Life had moved forward, but not for the reasons he had once hoped,

The week went by uneventfully until the lawyer arrived at Frederick’s house with the divorce agreement. Marcus read through it and saw that everything he had requested was included, so he handed the document back for delivery to Valerie.

“Mr. Bartz, would you like to deliver this yourself, or should I do it? Just let me know.”

“You take it. Deliver it today. I’ll talk to her myself later.”

Marcus still hoped that seeing the reality of the situation would make Valerie come to her senses. But deep he already knew how this would end. There wasn’t much to think about or expect anymore.

The faint trace of his cologne was beginning to disappear, and it had only been a week. She never imagined that Mary’s life would change so drastically. Between her and her husband, there had always been so much love. But Peter’s sudden appearance had taken it all away. Valerie, though she never said it, also seemed affected, but she hid it well.

Marcus had given him a believable excuse for his absence, so he remained calm. Serenity, on the other hand, was different. Though she tried to stay neutral and avoided giving
