Chapter 0775

Marcus held Valerie tightly against his chest, as if afraid to let go. He had missed her her warmth, her scent, everything about her. Taking care of the children alone hadn’t been easy, but more than anything, he had been tormented by the guilt of what he had done.

He knew they had both made mistakes that had torn their family apart. But all he wanted now was to end this nightmare and return to Hesperia, to rebuild what they had lost.

He imagined their family together again–Serenity studying at university, John starting primary school, and Albert and Caroline crawling around the house. He even imagined having to build extra rooms to fit them all.

This was the future he wanted.

A real home. A real family.

“Valerie… You have no idea how much I missed this. You don’t know how much I’ve suffered without you. I know you’ll probably never forgive me for the way I hurt you. I lost my mind–I let my jealousy control me. I convinced myself I was losing you.

For a moment, I saw my future as a man raising our kids alone. I hated Peter because I thought he was the only person who could take you away from me.”

Valerie lifted her hand to his face, her fingers soft against his cheek.

“Never. Marcus Bartz, listen to me–never think that would ever happen. Peter was an important part of my past, but that’s all he is–the past.

“You are my present. You are my future. And I don’t see any future without you in it.”

At her words, Marcus’s grip on her tightened. Without thinking, he lifted her into his arms and kissed her deeply, pouring into that kiss all the longing and desire he had been holding back for weeks.

She was his wife. She was here. In his arms.

With her beside him, he could face anything.

Valerie melted into his embrace. She had missed this–missed him. The scent of her husband, the feeling of his touch against her skin.

She could feel his desperation, his need to have her, to feel her again.

The kiss that started as tender soon turned into something deeper, hungrier–a silent plea for reconnection.

She understood exactly what he wanted–what they both wanted.
