After spending their first night together in 23 years, Theodore woke up and found himself staring at Fiona’s beautiful face. He couldn’t understand why she wanted him–he hadn’t done anything extraordinary.

Slowly, Fiona stirred, feeling his gaze on her. A faint blush crept onto her cheeks. She was naked–completely naked–lying beside the man she had prayed for more than half her life.

“Theodore…” she whispered.

“That sounds much better… See? You can say my name,” he said, looking straight at her.

She looked enchanting. The pink tint on her cheeks fascinated him, though he didn’t know how to put it into words. He reached out and caressed her face, and she leaned into his touch. “To hell with it,‘ he thought. ‘We already did it–why should we feel embarrassed?‘ He pulled her against his chest and kissed her, realizing he could easily become addicted to her.

That gaze of hers drove him crazy. That angelic look made him believe it was true–life was giving him another chance. He was an older man, but maybe, just maybe, life would grant him a few years of peace.

After spending most of the day in bed, the couple finally got up. Fiona smiled, and something in her eyes had changed. She looked like a different woman. For the first time in decades, she felt something new–something between desire, happiness, and fulfillment.

Adam hadn’t come home that day. He had stayed at Peter’s house after going out with Alden, returning late at night, and deciding to sleep in the guest room.
