Adrian hadn't expected this moment at all. Every day he woke up, went to work, came home, and studied.

His life had started to look very different than before, but this surprise changed his

entire day.

Once the door closed behind Magnus and the stroller disappeared down the hall, both Laura and Adrian were left feeling a little awkward and nervous.

"Laura... what's going on? I..." Adrian stammered.

"Adrian, can we talk?"

"Yeah... sure. What do you need? Is Adele okay? Is something wrong?"

"No... no, everything's fine. She's fine. Adrian, what I want to talk to you about is... this," Laura said, waving her hand vaguely between them.

"I see you're working with my family now. Honestly, I had no idea you were here."

"Well... your dad gave me a chance, and I'm just trying to repay it by working hard," Adrian said nervously, keeping his head down.

"Wow... Dad didn't say anything to me about it. I guess he had his reasons."

"Well... I haven't been here long, honestly. I'm just getting started. But I think it's going well... at least, I hope it is," Adrian said sincerely.

Laura smiled and said, "I saw all the emails you sent me... almost two years ago."

Adrian lowered his head even more and said quietly:

"Laura... like I told you back then, I know I didn't react the way I should have. Honestly, I'm still ashamed of that time in my life. And I understand why you didn't let me meet Adele.
