Chapter 4 Confrontation

Olympia stormed forward, her chest heaving in anger. She raised her hand high, aiming for Charmaine’s face.

But Charmaine didn’t flinch. She lifted her hand and caught Olympia’s in midair, stopping her strike.

Olympia was stunned, clearly not expecting Charmaine to dare fight back. Her usual refined, dignified demeanor faltered, revealing her rage.

“You wretch! I should’ve known! You’ve always harbored jealousy and consistently targeted Leah. You must have come to Leah’s birthday party with ill intentions. But causing trouble once wasn’t enough for you, was it? You went to such extreme lengths to carry out such a heinous deed and bring shame upon us all!”

Charmaine’s cold laugh echoed in response.

Jealous?

What did Leah have that was worth being jealous of?

Her eyes darkened. Charmaine tightened her grip, shoving Olympia away.

The once composed Olympia staggered back several steps. If it weren’t for Leah supporting her, Olympia would have certainly fallen and embarrassed herself further.

Leah shook her head. Her expression was filled with disappointment and sorrow as she gazed at Charmaine. “Chara, Mom cares about you; that’s why she’s acting this way. How could you push her?”

She bit her lip, tears clinging to the corners of her eyes. Her voice trembled with sadness as she said, “I know you’ve always hated me. If leaving would make everyone happier, then I’ll never show myself before you, Mom, Dad, or brothers ever again.”
