Celeste’s finger pointed directly at Leah, sitting diagonally across from her.

Milo scoffed, “Celeste, you’ve really gone all in, haven’t you? I’m actually curious–what did Charmaine ever do to you that makes you so obsessed with her?”

Celeste shot back with a mocking laugh, “Milo, you’re hilarious. Aren’t you the one who never stops talking about Leah? Now, instead of trailing after her like a loyal puppy, you’re following Charmaine. What’s the deal? Did you finally see–through your sweet little sister and start regretting it?”

Milo clenched his fists, his frustration clear. “Shut up! You’re the one always making trouble for Charmaine, stealing her stuff, and accusing her of things. And now you’re acting like the moral authority? Don’t make me laugh!”

Celeste raised an eyebrow. “Oh, really, Milo? Didn’t you pressure Charmaine to donate a kidney to your precious sister, using her like a tool for your own selfish needs? And now you want to act like some kind of saint? You’re nothing but a hypocrite–always pretending to be something you’re not!”

Milo struggled to find words, his face flushed. “Mind your own business, Celeste!”

“Idi*t, who do you think you’re talking to?” Celeste shot back without hesitation.

The tension between them was palpable. Charmaine watched the argument unfold, both Milo and Celeste red–faced and shouting. The spectacle was almost comical, and for some reason, the food in Charmaine’s plate suddenly seemed more appealing.

She almost felt like getting another serving.

Nearby, Leah watched with growing discomfort. Milo and Celeste, usually focused on her, were now locked in a fierce rivalry with each other, and Charmaine was right at the center of it.

The spotlight had shifted away from Leah. Charmaine was now the one everyone was focused on.

Leah could feel it–a change in the air. Milo, once her constant companion, wasn’t hovering around her anymore. And Celeste, her supposed best friend, was now fixated on Charmaine.
