Chapter 135 The Rift Between Siblings

Milo had just stepped out of Jonah’s study, still processing the shocking news he’d overheard about

Bennett.

Only now did he learn the truth that Bennett had taken out a massive loan before securing the construction project and had squandered millions on luxury. Now, he was drowning in debt, desperate to borrow money just to stay afloat.

Earlier, Leah had gone to the Read residence and returned with some of their belongings. She even delivered them straight to Zayn’s room. How could Milo not know about what happened?

His expression turned grim as he strode over to Leah. Lowering his voice, he confronted her. “Leah, Bennett brought this on himself. And now you expect Zayn to spend his money bailing him out?”

Caught red–handed, Leah flushed with embarrassment. Her emotions flared, a mix of anger and frustration. “Milo! How can you be like this? Do you expect me to just stand by and watch my father be left with no way out, with his hands and feet severed by those awful people?”

“And you? Haven’t you changed too?” Milo shot back, his gaze laced with disappointment. He took two steps back, trying to keep his emotions in check before finally asking, “Just because he’s your father,

doesn’t that mean we’re not real siblings?“?

Leah froze; his words hitting her like a thunderclap.

Fearful that his raised voice might attract attention, she quickly grabbed his arm and dragged him toward the back garden.

“Milo, I’m begging you. Please just help me this one last time,” she pleaded.

In an instant, tears streamed down her face. “I have no choice. He got down on his knees, Milo. He started hitting himself so hard! Milo and Zayn, you’re my family, but so is he!”

Her tears fell like a broken string of pearls, her voice brimming with helplessness and sorrow, “I know I shouldn’t drag the family into his mess. But, Milo, the company’s already helping me secure partnerships, right? Once I start earning money, no matter how long it takes, I’ll repay Zayn. Please … just help me this time!”
