Charmaine walked up to the window in front of everyone, casually opened the outer glass pane, and retrieved a strange–looking device from the windowsill. It had a small plate in the front and a camera lens with a tiny outlet attached to it.

It looked like…

“Is that a pet feeder?” Paxton asked uncertainly.

Charmaine smiled and revealed, “You got it right, Mr. Zimmer. It’s a pet feeder, but I built it myself. It’s different from the ones you buy in stores.”

“That explains it! I have one at home, too. I just thought this one looked a little different.”

“I’ve been taking care of two stray cats here. I was worried they wouldn’t be getting proper meals, so I ordered some tools online, built a little program, and attached this camera. It lets me watch the cats and also makes feeding easier.”

Charmaine gave a self–deprecating smile and glanced meaningfully at Todd, who looked pale. “I didn’t expect it would come in handy today.”

Todd nervously swallowed, forcing a weak smile. “Dr. Robin, you’re joking, right? That camera’s outside the window. How could it capture anything inside the office?”

“Well, let’s see if it did.”

Charmaine shrugged indifferently, logged into her program on the computer, and opened the surveillance footage.
