Chapter 389

Deanna's pupils constricted sharply. She couldn't even get a full sentence out.

Isadora slipped her hand around Victor's arm, leaning so close it was as if she was clinging to him for dear life.

But deep in her eyes, cold and bright as winter stars, flashed a trace of hatred she could no longer hide.

Watching Deanna's panic and shock, Isadora's lips curled slowly into a faint, satisfied smile.

Victor glanced down, his eyes dark and unreadable as he watched Isadora's gesture. He slid his arm around her slender waist, pulling her halfway into his embrace.

"Isadora's expecting," he announced calmly. "Once my father's hundred-day memorial has passed next month, we'll be getting married."

The household staff, hearing this, lowered their heads so far they nearly buried their faces in their chests. No one dared even to breathe.

"What did you just say?!"

There was a heavy thud.

Deanna's whole body seemed to unravel, her strength gone. She collapsed shakily onto the nearest chair.
