Isadora gazed at the man just a breath away, taking in his strikingly handsome features.

His eyes were tinged with red, and dark circles shadowed beneath them. He looked utterly exhausted, but even that couldn't diminish his allure.

She let out a soft sound, almost a whisper. "I was afraid... if I didn't wake up, you'd be angry with me."

Victor's throat tightened as if something was lodged there, making it hard to breathe. His lashes trembled; he wanted to say so much, but in the end, only managed, "Silly girl."

Moments later, Finley arrived with the doctor.

The truth was, he'd been at the hospital all day, never once leaving.
