Pain sliced through Sylvie's chest. Did it matter? His previous words had just made her realize how desperate he was for the divorce. She feared he'd hate her and the baby for wanting to be an obstacle. Turning halfway, she looked at him. It's pointless. We're getting divorced, anyway. Her eyes mirrored the depth of her sadness.
