I quickly made my way to Phipps as soon as I heard about the disturbance, to see if he was hurt. Thankfully, he was standing there, though he looked a bit pale. Probably scared out of his wits! But if Ernest were here, he wouldn't even flinch, so this guy definitely wasn't I stepped over the shards of glass on the floor and stood beside Phipps. "What's going on?" I asked. But he ignored me, even giving me a look of disgust. That's when one of the big shots sitting nearby spoke up, "And who the hell are you?"

Ernest. Even though I knew this, there was no way I could just stand by and do nothing, especially given that familiar face.

Another person leaned over and whispered, "She's with the Wagner family." With that reminder, the loudmouth looked me over and said, "Didn't Mr. Conrad dump her?"

Talk about rubbing salt in the wound. So, how dare Conrad think he could just waltz back into my life? If I took him back, it would just give these people more to gossip about. "I'm Felicia, and he's with me. Whatever he's done wrong, I'll take responsibility," I declared firmly.

"And who do you think you are?" the same loudmouth, a hefty guy, retorted, clearly disrespectful. He was the most vocal of the lot, acting as if he was the only one with a voice. I could tell he was trying to give me a hard time. Giving him a piece of my mind was more courtesy than he deserved.

I grabbed Phipps, "Let's go." Phipps didn't move. I tugged at him again, and this time he turned. But the loudmouth behind us sneered, "What a joke, acting all high and mighty in front of me." The insults kept coming, and I realized getting Phipps out wouldn't be easy. So, I released Phipps, turned around, and grabbed an ashtray from the table, hurling it at the loudmouth. Maybe it was my quick reflexes, or maybe he didn't expect me to lash out, but it hit him square in the face, and his chubby cheeks were soon smeared with blood.
