I mean, technically, I'm only her sister-in-law, but with Susie, I'm starting to feel

like a full-on mom. Maybe it's my maternal instincts kicking in, a sign I should think about having a kid myself. It's funny, lately I've been having these random thoughts about starting a family.

"No need for that, I just wanted to say thanks," Susie said, and I knew exactly what she meant. It's rare for her to be mad at me and still offer a thank you, but that's Susie-wears her heart on her sleeve. I accepted her gratitude with a simple nod.

"Where's my brother gone off to now? Did he get himself into trouble again?" Susie suddenly asked about Ernest. I dreaded this question because once she started, she wouldn't let it go, and there was only so much I could reveal about Ernest.

"It's nothing," I replied, keeping to Ernest's rule of not letting her in on too much.

“Sure, just keep me in the dark. A bunch of people went to the place I used to live. Looked like they were searching for something," Susie's words made my heart skip a beat. If they found that place, would they go digging up graves or something?
