Chapter 41

Heldi was unaccustomed to such treatment. She struggled and cursed, “Clara, you hit me? Believe It or not, I can make sure your dad rots in jail!”

The mention of her father only fueled Clara’s anger, and she doubled down on her grip.

“If your parents didn’t know how to raise you right, then I guess it falls on me to teach your a lesson.”

Heidi was shorter than Clara, and having always been pampered and spoiled, she was no match for Clara’s strength. Minutes later, Heidi’s face resembled a swollen pumpkin.

Clara looked at her reddened palm, her eyes still simmering with resentment. The trouble Heidi had caused wasn’t something a few slaps could resolve.

Clara had clawed her way out of the gutter once, and she wasn’t about to let Heidi push her back down.
