“But if I get fired, I won’t have any income. What do we do about rent and food?”
“I’ll take care of them!” he said, “I’ll earn enough money to support you, so don’t you worry.”
Serenity stared at him in surprise. She knew that he was only doing odd jobs so he did not earn much, but when he said those words, it somehow gave her a sense of security.
It reminded her that she was not alone. She actually had someone to rely on. She could rely on him.
“Call your boss.” He handed her the phone.
She bit her lip. In the end, she relented and called her team leader at the Sanitation Office who was responsible for managing them.
At first, she thought it would be very difficult to ask for an extended leave, but to her surprise, when she said she needed a week off, the team leader immediately agreed. He even said that if a week was not enough, she could even take two weeks off. Not only that, she would still be paid the basic salary and he would not deduct her pay.

Serenity was astonished. She remained in disbelief long after she hung up
“Why does it feel like my team leader can’t wait for me to take a long leave? What’s going on?”
“If you can’t figure it out, then don’t bother thinking too much about it. You got your leave, and that’s that,” Jackson said while continuing to help her clean her foot.
His fingers gently rubbed the back of her foot, her heel, and her toes… She was starting to feel a little embarrassed.
Speaking of which, she had never let a man inspect her foot so attentively before, not even Zeke Shaw.
When he held her foot with his large hands, her foot was completely wrapped inside his palms. She suddenly blushed. She felt like all her blood was rushing straight to her head. Her face was red-hot.
“T-Thanks. I can do it myself!” She quickly pulled her foot out of his hands.
But his fingers still grasped her foot, “I can do it for you. Don’t move,” he said.
She was too embarrassed to move her foot away again.
He slowly grabbed a dry towel and carefully wiped her feet dry. His face dropped lower and lower until it was really close to her
foot.
Serenity felt as if her heart was about to leap out of her throat. When his lips were about to touch her foot, she could not stop herself from crying out, “Jack!”
His body jolted slightly. He then raised his head and said expressionlessly, “What’s wrong, Sis

“She bit her lip. She was probably overreacting. She thought jack was going to kiss her foot.
