“The journalist seemed unaware of Miss Lewis’ past imprisonment. He only appeared to know her name and seemed only interested in digging up some gossip about you, Mr. Valor,” Connor replied.
Jackson’s voice remained icy as he instructed, “Continue questioning him. Get all the details you can from him before releasing him. Also, find out where those online comments originated from!”
“Understood, sir,” Connor replied.
As Jackson pushed open the door to the hospital room again and looked at the woman eating on the bed, he wondered if the journalist’s presence was simply a coincidence.
Was it merely a chance encounter last night, or was there something more to it?
When the door opened, Serenity looked up to see the dark look on Jackson’s face and an air of hostility around him. She was momentarily startled and stared at him in a daze.
The hostility disappeared instantly from Jackson’s demeanor when he noticed her attention, and his usual gentle smile appeared on his handsome face.

What’s wrong, Sis? Why are you looking at me like that? Jackson asked
Serenity shook her head slightly and struggled to find words to respond. “I-it’s nothing.
At that moment, Serenity felt as though the man before her was a stranger. Or perhaps that was the real him, and the man before her now smiling innocently like an angel was only a mask?
Ever since Joy had discovered that Jackson was the pillar of support behind Serenity, she hadn’t been. doing well at all.
This meant that Joy had no way of holding Serenity accountable for her leg!
The fact that she had been hospitalized with a broken leg had made her a laughingstock in her social
circle. If her leg didn’t heal in the future, she would truly become a permanent joke!
It was all Serenity’s fault! If it wasn’t for that woman, Joy wouldn’t be in this position right now!
That woman hadn’t even mentioned that she had allied herself with Jackson!
Joy suspected that Serenity had intentionally kept it a secret and pretended to be weak in order to upset Joy and provoke her into taking action so that Jackson would seek revenge on her!
The more Joy thought about it, the angrier she became.
Her friends had arranged for a private room today to try and cheer Joy up, but how could she enjoy herself when she had to rely on crutches to get around?!
As Joy hobbled away from the private room on her crutch, she noticed a group of people walking toward her
