Chapter 974: What happened?

[Skyline Plaza: Zoren's Home]

"Just what is going on here?" Slater mumbled, looking around at his family as they gathered in Zoren's home for a reason. He stood by the window, looking out to see if Zoren had returned with Penny.

"Don't worry about them," Atlas casually remarked as he read a magazine on the sofa. "They'll come home soon."

Wild's expression twisted. "She's probably trying to get away from trouble."

"That little beggar," Jessa clicked her tongue and shook her head. She was only here because she was interested in watching this family drama unfold. After all, Penny had "used" Old Mrs. Pierson to give all the men in their family something else to do.

Allison frowned worriedly, looking at everyone around the living room. After a moment, she looked up as Charles stood up. Not just her, but everyone gazed at him.

"Charles...?"

Charles huffed. "Stay here. I'll wait for them outside."

"I'm coming with you," Haines volunteered, standing up from his seat with his cane. "I'm a little worried as well. Zoren wouldn't go out to fetch his wife if there was nothing wrong."

"Or it could be that he's just helping his wife create a believable excuse, so she doesn't have to deal with us," Wild suggested, to which Jessa agreed with a nod.

"You lot know Penny. She will do all these things and then try to get away from it," she remarked, but Haines and Charles didn't listen.

Instead, Charles and Haines walked toward the front door. The rain tonight was heavy, with occasional thunder, as if a typhoon had just landed in the country.

"Mhph!" Wild huffed. "Whatever. I'm not buying whatever she is planning to get away from this."

"I'll stay with them." Atlas closed the magazine and placed it on the table.

"I'm coming too!" Hugo smiled and jumped from his seat, following his First Brother.
