Chapter 1611: The people in the Pierson Corporation were all kind

Charles' concern and confession had left Butler Jen restless-especially since Haines hadn't come home last night, and Allison had already begun noticing her husband's somberness.

Butler Jen could've told Allison everything, but he knew Charles—and even Haines-would rather keep it from her. Charles had always tried to protect his wife from his past, knowing it would only hurt her and affect her in ways he didn't want to imagine. Haines was the same. Butler Jen had been with the family long enough to understand that.

Even so, his concern for Haines wouldn't let him stay idle. The issue was too big to ignore, and he knew he needed to take precautionary steps to prevent the worst from happening.

That was what led him to the front of the Pierson Corporation building.

Butler Jen glanced at the flow of people entering the building. Compared to their crisp, professional attire, his uniform stood out, but he didn't let it bother him as he headed for the entrance.

No sooner had he stepped inside than a security guard rushed over to him.

"Wait, sir," the guard said, pausing as Butler Jen stopped. He scanned him from head to toe, gulping slightly as he recalled former colleagues who were fired for mishandling unexpected visitors-especially when it involved Atlas.

The guard wasn't about to make the same mistake. Not with Zoren or Atlas in charge.

"I'm sorry, but I can't let you in without completing a security check," the guard explained, motioning toward the scanners where visitors were receiving passes.

Butler Jen gave a polite smile and nodded. "Apologies. I didn't know."

"It's okay. Come with me," the guard said, leading him to the checkpoint for non- employees.

Butler Jen complied without protest, walking through the scanner and submitting to a thorough inspection by another security officer. It was his first time visiting the Pierson Corporation, and the level of scrutiny surprised him. Even Anteca's airport security had nothing on this.

"Is it over?" he asked kindly, holding the visitor pass.

"The check, yes. But that pass is just for this one," the guard explained, pointing at the turnstiles leading to the lobby.

"Ah." Butler Jen nodded, smiling. "Thank you."
