Chapter 278

When Elena spoke, Ava finally got it. She’d been so focused on keeping Elysia around that she’d forgotten Elysia had already graduated from high school three years ago–and from a top school, too.

Harfard University was the kind of place most people only dreamed of, but Elysia had already graduated from there. There was no way she needed to go back to high school.

Ava had acted impulsively just now, not thinking things through. Thank goodness Elena had stopped her in time. If those words had slipped out, Elysia would’ve been in a tough spot. As her friend, Ava couldn’t force Elysia’s decisions, especially at a time like this.

But the thought of them drifting apart made Ava feel a pang of sadness. She watched the fish darting around in the water, her eyes starting to mist up.

She thought to herself, ‘If only we could be like the fish, free from worries and separations.

When Elysia found them, they were both leaning over the railing with gloomy expressions. Even Elena, who rarely showed much emotion, looked a bit down.

Elysia walked over slowly, and they looked up after they’d heard her footsteps, trying to hide their sadness. “Elysia, what’s up?” Ava asked.

“I just took Jack back to his room. I heard you guys were here, so I came to check on you. What’s going on? You don’t seem too happy,” Elysia said.

Ava forced a smile and linked her arm with Elysia’s. “What
