Zane’s voice was deep and magnetic. After speaking, he turned and headed towards the door, a slight smile playing at his lips.

Elysia was still sitting on the counter, staring after him in a daze. He had just said not to rush, that he would slowly ask her for something later.

She had no idea what he wanted, but just hearing his words gave her an unusual feeling. She thought, ‘Oh well, when that day comes, I’ll naturally find out what he wants.

Having figured it out, Elysia propped her hands on the counter and leaned forward, about to jump down when she paused, suddenly remembering something.

She thought, Who exactly put me up here in the first place?‘ Her mind conjured up an image of Zane’s handsome face, still smiling.

She pursed her lips, internally grumbling, ‘He put me up here and just left? He should at least put me back down the way he lifted me up.’

When she stepped out of the kitchen, Zane was sprawled on the sofa, a book in one hand, legs crossed languidly.

He exuded a kind of scholarly rogue charm that Elysia hadn’t seen before. She leaned against the doorway, carefully examining his striking profile.
