“Well, that explains it! Khloe’s probably another man’s daughter. Nothing good ever comes from that.”

“So Khloe took the lead role in Peaks of Eternity as some twisted payback against the Evans family? How vicious! Her mother had no decency, and now Sloane’s suffering for it!”

“Hey, watch what you’re saying. You don’t know the whole story, so stop dragging her mother’s name through the mud.”

The comments poured in, many laced with disdain for Khloe.

Yet, the mood at the banquet couldn’t have been more different. The guests, hailing from influential families, were well-versed in the secrets and intricacies of each other’s lives.

Three years ago, rumors had swirled that Khloe was behind Lorraine’s sudden fall from the stairs, causing a once-promising genius to vanish without a trace. Something about the situation never added up.

Claire Watson, Eric’s mother, watched Khloe with a keen eye, noticing how the young woman’s presence eclipsed not just Sloane, but the other young ladies in the room.
