Vera slept through the day. It was already night by the time she woke up.

That was the most rested she had been since the incident.

Mabie had stayed by her side throughout the day. Although she was bored and extremely sleepy, she did not walk away.

She was afraid of waking Vera up. After all, her daughter had not had a good night's sleep ever since the incident. She was afraid that her movements might jolt her awake.. Mabie was aware as soon as Vera woke up.
