Chapter 38
Adam’s words had frightened Emma quite badly. The entire Internet knew just how popular he was at the current inoment. If a fan discovered his whereabouts and casually announced the information within the group, the information would attract many people within the same community. By that time, they would all gather around the building where she lived…
Just imagining the scene pushed her to the brink of an emotional breakdown. She rushed over to the window and carefully pulled open the curtains to reveal a crack. Sure enough, she saw a gathering of young girls downstairs.
Feeling a terrible headache coming on, she quickly closed the curtains and turned to question him. “What do we do now?”
Adam seemed extremely calm in contrast to Emma’s impending emotional breakdown. He plopped his tall figure down on her couch and gave her a handsome smile. “In that case, I’m not leaving.”
She was so anxious that she began pulling at her hair. “How can a lone man and woman share a room?! That’s outrageous!”
While she could accept him coming to visit her, it would be inappropriate for him to stay overnight. Not to mention, he was a popular idol. If any of his fans discovered her through some obscure clue, she would surely die a miserable death.
He comforted her. “There are so many residents in this building. I’m sure nobody will know that I am here with you.”
Even so, she found the situation unacceptable and urged him, “Hurry up and contact your company. Ask your manager to figure out a way to make them leave, then you should hurry up and leave too.”
Hugging one of the pillows on her couch, Adam looked at Emma with a pitiful expression. “Emma, I’m tired and sleepy from rushing all the way back from afar. Can you bear to drive me away?”
She sighed and looked at him seriously. “You must leave. Otherwise, your reputation will be ruined if something were to happen.”
If he were involved with a woman who was six years his senior and a divorcee at that, his reputation would surely be ruined.
During her time abroad, he had participated in several events where they encountered each other and went out for meals together on several occasions. Be that as it may, she had always regarded him as her little brother.
Susanna once hinted to Emma that Adam might have romantic feelings for her, but Emma dismissed the possibility altogether. For one, she felt that they had not known each other for long. For another, there was a six-year gap between them. A relationship where they resembled more like an older sister and younger brother was too shocking for her personality, so she could not accept such a thing.
Susanna had been perfectly fine with the idea. “So what if you’re six years older than him? Isn’t Trevor also six years older than you? Are you saying that only men are allowed to have younger partners and women aren’t?”
Her character had always been unrestrained, so Emma could not say much to her. While Emma could accept other people having an older sister-younger brother type of relationship, she could not foresee herself doing the same.
Just as Emma was so anxious that her head was about to explode, Wesley called and she reacted as though she was saved. She planned to ask Wesley for advice about what to do in this situation. Wesley had been an idol for many years, so he would surely know how to deal with this situation.
