Despite being a luxurious VIP ward, the room lacked a carpet. Jean felt a chill seep from her feet to her very core as she stood on the cold, bare tiles.

Brad wasn't as concerned about her anymore, and her emotions didn't seem to affect him. The usual pitiful act she put on didn't seem to hold any power over him either.

Just a moment ago, he didn't so much as look her way before turning on his heel and leaving. His eyes held a blizzard within them, cold and utterly detached.

Her sobs were grating on Lynn's nerves. Lynn rolled her eyes before forcefully dragging Jean back to the bed. While tucking her in, she said, "Ms. Sawyer, you need to stop crying and start thinking about how to win Mr. Hamilton back. I noticed the way he looked at you earlier-he's disappointed. And once a man feels that way, it's only a matter of time before he turns to another woman."

Lynn added as if to hurt, "Need I remind you he still has a wife named Nadine?"

Lynn didn't particularly enjoy looking after Jean. She was just using Jean as a means to an end, to see Brad. Brad was a man who was far out of her league- like the glowing moon high in the sky, while she was a mere speck of dust. All she could do was admire him from afar.
