"Yvette's already been taken in. Are you still trying to convince me to take the fall for her?" Helen said angrily.

Selena wore an awkward expression, having been called out, yet she remained stubborn and said, "Helen, given how things have escalated, you should be more sensible. It's a special time right now. If your sister-in-law wasn't pregnant, I'd do everything to protect you, you are my own daughter after all. But things are different now; she's carrying the only heir of the Flynn family, so I must protect her. But don't worry, even if you take the blame for Yvette, your brother and I will do everything in our power to get you out."

Helen scoffed, "Mom, you've already given me this whole speech the last time you visited. Have you forgotten what happened after you said these words?" It was all so ironic to her. From the moment she entered the detention center until now, when she was in prison, her mom, Selena, had only visited twice. The first time she came to persuade her, Helen attempted to take her life. When Selena got home, she sighed deeply, wanting to ask Xavier about any progress made. Yet, before she could speak, Xavier interrogated her. "Mom, did you go to see my sister again today? Was it to make her take the blame once more? Every piece of evidence in the police's hands points to one person. In this situation, you still haven't forgotten to let her be the scapegoat? Last time, you nearly cost her life, and now you still try to persuade her? I miss the old you, who doted on Helen, not the person you've become, only concerned about the child in Yvette's belly."

After all the turmoil in recent days, Selena was already on the verge of a breakdown. Hearing her son's discontent only added to her frustration. "Fine! You all say it's my fault. Would I have to do all this if not for your child?" she spat angrily, flinging her sleeve before storming off to her room and locking the door behind her.

The door was open, and as he stepped inside, he found Yasmine looking at him with a puzzled expression. "Is there something you need, Mr. Flynn?" Yasmine had a feeling that he certainly had something to discuss.
