Chapter 239

Sunlight streamed down on Yasmine, casting a golden glow on her soft form. This tranquil beauty made Yonas wish time could just stop in this moment.

Suddenly, a cry erupted from not too far away, snapping Yasmine out of her reverie. She listened carefully and looked at Yonas in confusion, "Did you hear someone crying?"

Yonas focused intently and, sure enough, he could hear the sound of crying. He nodded in confirmation.

Yasmine stood up and glanced around, finally spotting a woman lying on the ground crying behind a tree. She quickly approached her, "What's wrong? Are you okay?"

Upon hearing Yasmine's question, the woman rasped, "I'm going into labor, help me!" Labor? Yasmine's face turned pale; this was a pregnant woman! She looked down and saw that the woman's pants were soaked, indicating her water had broken. Yasmine hurriedly ran to find a doctor and nurse. Luckily, the doctor arrived shortly, and the pregnant woman was taken to the emergency room. Yasmine let out a deep breath and then remembered Yonas.

Luckily, Yonas had already made his way back himself. It wasn't until Yasmine entered the hospital room that she found Yonas lying in bed.

At night, Morgan mysteriously led Yasmine into a room guarded by several men in black. When the door opened, she saw a man tied to a chair. Yasmine curiously glanced at Morgan, "Who is this?"

"It's the people in the black sedan," Morgan said. Ever since his sister had her accident, he had people thoroughly check the surveillance on every road. Misty Evergreen Isle originally had no surveillance, but right after he bought it, he had two cameras installed. It was actually lucky those cameras caught their faces. Even though the car windows were tinted, he hired technicians to restore the contours of their faces, and it took a long time to find just this one person.

Yasmine set her gaze on the person tied up, her expression growing colder. That person, with bruises all over his face, had obviously been beaten by Morgan's people, but it seemed like he hadn't spilled a word. Morgan said coldly, "This one's got a stubborn mouth. Ever since he was brought over last night, he hasn't said a thing."

Yasmine nodded, looking at the man with a serious expression and said, "Leave it to me."

All the bodyguards in the room left, and the man's hands were untied, yet he was still bound to the chair. He stared at Yasmine expressionlessly, as if he were looking at something lifeless. Morgan was in another room, watching the monitor feed.

Yasmine spoke up, "You don't have to talk if you don't want to, but could you answer a few questions? Just think of it as a way to keep your family safe."

The man finally showed some emotion, his brows furrowed tightly, and finally spoke, "Are you planning to kill someone?"

Yasmine chuckled wryly, "I never said I wanted to kill anyone. Seems like you might have, though. If thinking about your family still makes you nervous, then why do something like this
