Chapter 827

As soon as he got in his car, his phone rang.

"Who is it?" he answered warily. The voice on the other end was bone-chillingly cold. "Dr. Xavier, you seem to have a selective memory. Let me remind you— when exactly do you plan to pay back this money? You've been dodging us, not answering calls. Are you planning to break our agreement?"

Dr. Xavier said frantically, "No! I'm not-I just don't have the money right now. Give me two more days!"

The person on the phone burst into laughter. "Dr. Xavier, do your wife and son know about this? If push comes to shove, we could use them as collateral, though I doubt they'd fetch much."

Dr. Xavier was terrified. "Don't! Don't touch my wife and son! I'll pay you back, I swear!"

"Fine. Two more days-that's it. If you still haven't paid up, I don't think your family needs to keep breathing."

The line went dead. Dr. Xavier sat there shaken, gasping for air. What was he going to do?

Where could he possibly get the remaining money?

He returned to the hospital in a daze. Tina's body was in the autopsy room-the family had consented to the examination.

He performed the autopsy as usual, wrote his report. It took over an hour before he emerged.

He returned to his office with the report, but when he opened the door, he found an unfamiliar woman waiting.

She was dressed head to toe in designer clothes, impeccably styled-clearly someone of status.
