James hadn’t fully grasped what Olivia meant before she revved the engine. The car’s rear wheels spun rapidly, white smoke rising from the friction and the roar of the engine like a beast’s growl.

The sound sent a shiver down James’s spine. His eyes widened, disbelief written all over his face, Olivia wouldn’t really run him over, would she?

“If I move, I’m your son! You don’t have the guts to hit me!” James spat, still trying to sound tough.
