Chapter 4 4: Have I offend you in any way

Eveline returned home after Tiffany denied gaslighting her in front of Gabriel.

Despite her lack of self-confidence, she felt forced to warn her "friend" that she was keeping an eye on her and everything she attempted to accomplish behind her back.

Eveline tried to keep Tiffany on her toes and dissuade her from using her crafty ways to wreck her life, but she didn't mind if Tiffany got suspicious of her comment.

"Young Miss, your orange juice!" Susan's voice jolted Eveline out of her trance, causing her to sit up.

Eveline realized she still hadn't changed, but the exhaustion from the day didn't seem to go away.

"Young Miss, are you confident that there is nothing wrong with you?" Should I consult a doctor, in your opinion? Susan maintained a careful eye on Eveline, who couldn't stop inquiring.

Uncertainty flashed through her eyes as she turned to face the lady.

After her mother's death, Susan took on the role of Eveline's nanny, and her familiarity with Eveline's actions enabled her to quickly identify her behavior. She was now certain that there was indeed a problem with Eveline.

She questioned whether Susan hadn't noticed something was wrong.

Staring at the lady, she soon realized how much she missed her during those lonely times.

Susan had cared for her since she was a child, listening to her whine and offering guidance as a mother would. But everything changed when she married Gabriel.

Susan quit her job and departed without a word.Susan left wondering where she had gone and why she had never once contacted her.

Taking a deep breath, Eveline discarded all of her concerns and, smiling in response, said, "Susan, I'm fine. I never lied when I said I was afraid of a nightmare," she insists.

Eveline didn't want others to be suspicious of her. So she sought to guarantee that everything was OK and that she could carry on with her life as usual.

Once Susan was convinced that Eveline was fine, she didn't pursue the topic further and quickly left the room after placing the juice.
