Chapter 27 27: Punishment

"Can you shut that greedy mouth of yours? Your son already considers Eveline his sister. There is no way they are missing any chance," Richard corrected, glaring at Marcus, who was biting his lip to keep from laughing.

It looks like Marcus is attempting to pull Richard's leg. Did you forget that he had already bestowed his blessings upon the children?" Belle said, nudging her irate spouse.

Eveline had always been loved by both Marcus and Richard. She was the only girl born among the boys and instantly managed to capture everyone's heart.

"Marcus, how about you plan another baby? Your tools must still be in good operating order." Jonathan proposed making Marcus blush with shame.

"Don't ever talk about having another baby in front of my wife. She is going to undoubtedly disown me from her husband's title." Marcus warned.

"Sigh, how I wish Nancy was here with us. When is she coming back, by the way?" Belle switched the topic as she suddenly missed her friend.

"Day after tomorrow. All I can hope is that her mom is doing well." Marcus prayed in silence, and the others nodded in agreement.

"Well, let us return to our stopping point," Richard remarked, then glanced at Jonathan and inquired,

"What are your thoughts on revealing the alliance to the kids beforehand? We still need to discuss it with Gabriel," he inquired.

Despite knowing that his daughter would be content with Winston's, Jonathan continued to think about Eveline's feelings.

"I will discuss it with Eveline; ultimately, it is her choice," Jonathan said, casting a thoughtful glance at Richard and Belle.

Jonathan had never forced his daughter into anything. She was the free bird he desired to see soar high above all limitations.

Even though he was a little bit skeptical that she actually liked Gabriel, he still wanted to give her some time to learn the difference between genuine love and infatuation.
