Chapter 381 381: She clung to the fragile hope

Mischelle stood by the balcony, her gaze following Jedrick as he rushed into his car and sped off. The urgency in his movements puzzled her, but she didn't waste time dwelling on it. Instead, she seized the opportunity to contact Ella.

She knew that after what she had done that day, Ella would be devastated. The thought twisted painfully in her chest, but she clung to the fragile hope that Ella wouldn't misunderstand her and that she would give her a chance to explain.

With a deep breath, Mischelle grabbed her phone and dialed Ella's number. To her surprise, the call was answered almost immediately.

"Ella," she breathed, the name slipping from her lips like a plea.

Silence followed. A heavy, overwhelming silence that stretched between them.

Meanwhile, Jedrick pulled up to one of his private mansions, the one he had purchased in secret. The moment he stepped out of the car, his gaze locked onto Ben, and fury ignited in his eyes.

"How the hell did she get out of the house?" he snapped, his voice a sharp whip that sent a wave of fear through the staff.

Ben lowered his head, shame settling deep in his gut. He had left her alone for just a minute—just one damn minute and somehow, she had managed to slip away unnoticed.

Jedrick's seething glare bored into him before his gaze swept around.

"Where is she?" he demanded.

Ben hesitated for only a second before shooting a glance upstairs.

Jedrick didn't wait for further explanation. He stormed up to the room and found his mother fast asleep.
