Chapter 390 390: Haunting nightmares.

Sherlyn was skeptical when Jeremy asked her to bring Kaden home. She'd been avoiding it for a while now, hesitant to bridge the worlds of her father and the man she liked. But deep down, she knew she couldn't keep them apart forever—not if things between her and Kaden were truly going somewhere.

By the time she finished the call and sat back on the edge of the bed, lost in thought, Kaden had already stepped out of the shower. Steam followed him from the bathroom, but his eyes were fixed on Sherlyn, who didn't even glance his way.

His brows drew together in concern.

Did I push things too far earlier? he wondered.

Still, when she didn't react to his presence, he cleared his throat to announce himself.

Sherlyn blinked, snapping out of her thoughts. Her gaze drifted to where he stood, his freshly showered body wrapped in nothing but a towel, damp hair tousled and clinging to his forehead. The sight was... undeniably tempting. And the man himself looked far more relaxed than he had during their earlier argument.

"Who were you talking to?" Kaden asked, his voice low, curiosity etched into his features.

A small smile curved her lips as she stood and walked slowly toward him. He had heard her on the phone but hadn't caught enough to figure out who she was speaking to.

She stopped right in front of him, close enough to feel the heat from his skin, and without a word, wrapped her arms around him.

His breath hitched. The gesture caught him off guard, and for a moment, he felt like a complete fool—for doubting her, for letting pride get in the way earlier.

"Are you not angry with me anymore?" She asked, eyes twinkling with mischief as she looked up at his flushed face.

Kaden chuckled softly, wrapping his arms around her in return. "I should be asking you that," he murmured, pressing a kiss to her temple. "I was kind of an ass."

"Yes, you were," she agreed, laughing gently against his chest. "But maybe I needed it... a little."

They stood there in silence for a beat, wrapped in each other's presence, before Kaden asked again, quieter this time, "So, who was on the phone?"

Sherlyn hesitated, pulling back just enough to meet his eyes. "My dad," she admitted.
