She placed a hand over her chest, feigning deep distress at Aurelia’s accusation.

Curtis‘ once–handsome face drained of color. Recalling Melanie’s earlier warnings, he clenched his jaw and confronted Aurelia. “You’ve changed. You weren’t like this before. Could it be that everything Melanie said was true? Have you found someone else? Have you betrayed me?”

His voice rose to a near–ferocious roar as he spat out his accusations.

He couldn’t believe she’d betray him.

He had believed she would stand by him for a lifetime, only to discover she had willingly stooped to the level of being someone’s sugar baby.

At that moment, she resented Aurelia. If a breakup was inevitable, it should have been her son to initiate it.
