Chapter 419

"Cameron, I hope you don't regret this," Greta spat out, her voice laced with anger as she gritted her teeth.

Turning her back on the hospital, Greta made a bold exit while the doctor's attention was elsewhere. She was determined, slipping away quietly and unnoticed.

Her destination was Patrick and Miranda's small apartment. Patrick was stuck in a wheelchair, only able to move his head. Miranda, on the other hand, managed to shuffle around slowly with the help of a cane. Life hadn't been easy for these two. They'd been through the wringer. But somehow, all those struggles had left them with a calm acceptance. You could see it in the rare sense of peace that seemed to rest on their faces.

When Greta barged through the door, the elderly couple exchanged wary glances. There was no joyous reunion, no warmth for Greta, just a guarded look. Greta seemed oblivious to their demeanor. She threw herself into Patrick's arms, sobbing. "Dad, they're all against me. Everyone's picking on me."

Patrick's voice was muffled, barely more than a whisper. "I'm too old to help you now, Greta. You have to figure things out on your own." Through her tears, Greta looked up at him, feeling like her heart had just dropped into a bottomless pit. "Dad, do you not love me anymore?" Patrick replied, "Of course I love you, but I can't do anything..."

Greta broke down, her tears flowing freely. "Dad, my kidney disease is back. Cameron wants a divorce. What am I supposed to do if you turn your back on me? How am I supposed to live?"
