But Greta's heavy-handed parenting style left Nina feeling trapped and unhappy. In a burst of frustration, she tore up the cheap clothes Greta bought her and tossed the maid-prepared meal onto the floor.

Greta was so livid it made her chest ache. She pointed at Nina, shouting, "You ungrateful brat! Your wastefulness is absolutely maddening!"

She barked at the maid, "Bring me the switch! If I don't teach her a lesson today, she'll never learn to be thrifty and respect others' hard work."
