Chapter 832

Greta was the last to catch wind of Cameron's bankruptcy and his plans to sell off everything he owned.

Standing smack dab in the middle of the living room, she felt dwarfed by the vastness around her. Her eyes were red-rimmed as she looked over at Cameron, who was slumped on the couch like he'd been hit by a truck. "Cameron, could you give me a slice of what you get from selling the house?"

Cameron, looking more beat down than a boxer in the twelfth round, stared at her like she'd just asked for the moon. "Seriously? All you can think about right now is what's in it for you?"

Greta's face was tight as a drum, her lips a thin line. "You know my health's in the gutter. Without money, I'm a goner."

Cameron chuckled, but it was the kind of laugh that didn't reach his eyes. "Don't sweat it, I'll toss you a million bucks. That should cover your kidney transplant."

The old Greta would've scoffed at a million-it would've seemed like chump change. But after scraping by for a year, the thought of having enough to live on for a few years and cover her dialysis bills felt like winning the lottery.

After all, she still had Cameron. He could still bring in the bacon.

But his next words hit her like a freight train.

"Once you get the million, we're getting a divorce."

Greta shook like a leaf. "What did you just say?" She couldn't believe her ears. Rushing over to him, she clutched his hands, tears streaming down her face. "Cameron, we can't split up. You're in a tight spot, and I can't bail on you now."
