When Kate finished speaking, Eric’s demeanour shifted instantly, becoming icy. He smiled at Kate, but his eyes didn’t mirror the warmth, hinting at something more menacing. He moved closer to Kate, cornering her against the sofa’s back, and in a soft tone, he said, “Oh?”
