He paused briefly before continuing, his eyes shifting to Henry. “When she loves, she will give everything without reservation. But when she breaks away, she can sever those feelings completely in a very short time. With friends, she is even colder–she won’t mourn their absence, because to her, departure is inevitable.”

Adelyn frowned, puzzled. “But Henry said Aubrey’s emotions have been unstable these past few days. That doesn’t sound like someone hyper–rational at all.”
