Reborn, Reawakened, Rekindled
Chapter 72
Chapter 72
I responded with a curt “yes,” then hung up and sent my location to Russel
Ten minutes later, a black Benz pulled up by the road.
Russel wasn’t one to chase the high life. Also, being a doctor now, driving a flashy car to work seemed a bit off.
But with this guy, even if he were to ride the most ordinary bicycle, he could still attract a lot of female attention. “Get in Russel rolled down the window and told me.
“Where to?” I was a bit clueless.
“To pick up Boomer from your home.”
He was always worried about his pet. I smirked a little, opened the passenger door and hopped in. Russel glanced at me, “Seatbelt.”
I silently buckled up.
Due to the snowy weather, the roads were slippery and we were driving slow. I was gazing out the window, but my mind was replaying the scene of Neil and Bonnie in the snow.
On the road, Russel broke the silence, “Bonnie and the rest have applied for a ward change.”
“I know.” I didn’t want to talk about Neil and Bonnie at the moment, even though they were all I could think about.
“I’ll be the one performing Dean’s surgery, Russel said. If he were to be a spy, he would definitely be top-notch.
I grabbed my phone and transferred him some money. After seeing his phone light up, he looked confused, “What’s this about?”
I deliberately let out a sly smile, “Dr. Russel, could you do me a favor when you operate on Dean? If successful, Il send you a pretty penny!”
Just then, the traffic light turned red. The car came to a stop. Russel grabbed his phone, quickly refunding my transfer and then scolded me seriously, “Stop watching those overly dramatic TV shows! What are you thinking?”
“What else?” Russel looked at me as if I were an idiot.
I snorted coldly and ignored him.
When we got back to Sterling Estates, Boomer saw his master return and happily jumped into Russel’s arms, purring in delight.-
The housekeepers had taken good care of him in the past few days. He seemed to be in good spirits.
Russel was holding Boomer and petting its head, ready to say something to me when we heard a man’s voice from upstairs. Neil was home.
I didn’t want to see Neil, so I left Russel and went upstairs.
As for what those two men talked about in the living room, I had no idea. They were old pals, so catching up shouldn’t have been awkward.
In the s pac ious master bedroom, I tossed and turned in bed. On one hand, Neil and Bonnie’s affair was bothering me, on the other hand, I was worried
about Geneva.
Then Stella sent me a message, “Rena, Geneva is about to take the bait!”
I was startled and quickly replied, “So soon? How did you manage that?”
Stella sent a “smug” gif and replied, “Hehe, I’ll tell you in a couple of days. Wait for my good news.”
She stopped replying after that, as if she was really planning something big to surprise me. I didn’t ask anymore. Stella might be impulsive, but she was
smart.
I wasn’t sure if the private investigator I hired had started working yet. I opened my email inbox and there was no reply from the detective. Instead, there was a blocked message.
I clicked to view it. Among the seven or eight blocked unread messages, there was one from an unfamiliar number. After reading the content, I found out it was from Garnett.
I didn’t expect him to still keep in touch. The latest message was sent this afternoon.
I hesitated for a moment and decided to call him. He picked up quickly.
“Hello? Is this Ms. Finch? Garnett’s voice was quite pleasant, very gentle, and he spoke politely.
“Yes. I saw you sent me several messages. Do you need something?” I asked.
“Not really I wasn’t sure if you got home safely that night, so I texted you, but you didn’t reply. I didn’t want to bother you by calling directly.” Garnett explained a bit embarrassed.
I chuckled, “Thank you for your concern. I made it home safely that night. Your messages got blocked by the system, so I just saw them today.”
Garnett paused for a few seconds and suddenly said in a helpless and annoyed tone, I knew it would be like this. I’m going to change my number
tomorrow!”
I didn’t understand what he meant, so he told me. He had been a salesman for a long time and made too many sales calls. His number had been flagged as a spam number. He’d been to the telecom service center several times to remove the mark, but his number would soon be marked as spam again.
To be honest, this reason made me burst out laughing.
