Chapter 1324 I'm Sorry, I Seem to Always Make You Cry

Walter raised an eyebrow as he stood and walked to the edge of the small cargo vessel.

Looking down at the figure floating in the water, he smiled slightly. "Well, this is quite the treasure we've fished up. Tell Nathan we've found his man."

His crew promptly retrieved Paul from the water. The man was completely unconscious, burning with fever, his wounds festering. He would need extensive medical care.

Having just spoken with Nathan, Walter was in a relatively good mood about this fortunate discovery. Looking at the man lying on the deck, however, his brow furrowed with concern. Without immediate medical attention, Paul wouldn't survive much longer.

"It's ironic," Walter mused. "The Adams family is busy planning his funeral while he's been floating downriver all this time."

Walter had no interest in entangling himself in high society's secrets and schemes. "Dock the boat and get a doctor to attend to him," he ordered.

"Walter, shouldn't we send someone to assist him?" one of his men asked.

"This is Paul we're talking about. His friend Raymond blocked one of my shipments recently. The only reason he's not dead is because of my respect for Nathan."

The man who had spoken shrank back, not daring to say another word.

They were now quite far from Silver Bay City-about three hundred miles away in a neighboring town. As soon as they docked, Paul was transported to an inconspicuous private residence.

When Nathan received the call, he was genuinely surprised that Paul had survived. After hanging up, he turned to Betty. "Paul is with Walter now, but Walter won't provide him with care. I'll send my people to help."
