The air in the hallway felt thick and suffocating as I paced anxiously outside the emergency room doors.

Astrid is in there, fighting for her life after the horrific accident. I had rushed her here as quickly as I could. We were able to give her first aid treatment along the way and stop her bleeding, but serious damage had already been done. She had already lost so much blood when we arrived at the scene.
