Chapter 634

"Briony..."

Briony lifted her head to look at Mary.

"Is everything Ferdinand said true?"

Mary nodded, guilt flooding her eyes.

"Mary, do you even know what you're doing?!" Briony's voice trembled with emotion as she stared at Mary, her eyes rimmed with red. "Ferdinand's lost his mind—have you gone mad too? You're so young, why would you agree to something like this and throw your life away?"

"Fine! Say you really do love Ferdinand-what about me?!" Briony pressed a trembling hand to her chest, breath coming in short, ragged bursts. "He stole my DNA with some sick method, created an embryo without my knowledge, and now expects me to accept this is my child? Who gave you the right? How could you both do this to me?!"

Mary couldn't meet Briony's gaze. She lowered her head and choked out, "Briony, I'm so sorry..."

"Sorry?" Briony let out a cold, bitter laugh. "You're both insane! I'll never accept this child-Ferdinand, this isn't a baby; it's just a pawn for you to satisfy your twisted obsession. You never should have told me the truth. Now that I know, I won't soften-I'll only hate you more!"

A splitting headache gripped Briony. By the time she finished, she was utterly drained, her vision flickering with darkness.

She collapsed just as Ferdinand rushed to her side.

Blood gushed from her nose. Ferdinand's voice cracked with panic. "Get Dr. Jaime, now-hurry!"

Mary, pale with shock, spun on her heel and ran to fetch the doctor.

Chaos erupted. Through the haze of her fading consciousness, Briony vaguely heard someone sobbing-someone calling her name, begging her not to die. But Briony was too tired. She felt as if she were floating, her body swinging between feverish chills and burning heat. Fragments of dreams drifted by, sometimes blinding light, other times pitch darkness.
