Chapter 0113

Cara's POV

The Pack DarkWood hospital is eerily quiet. I only saw a handful of people as I rush through the lobby, a stark contrast to the usual droves of people coming and going.

But, of course.

It was the full moon.

Most of the hospital staff would be offsite tonight, if not outside running wild as wolves themselves, then most of the unlucky few assigned to work the overnight shift would be at the Pack House, tending to the newly shifted.

The first few shifts of a werewolf's life were usually the most dangerous. Not only that, but add in the already-raging hormones of teenagers turned wolf and it was usually a recipe for disaster. Having medical staff at the Pack House was a proactive step that tended to

off.

So the hospital tonight was nearly barren.

"Hello? Is anyone here?" I call out, my voice echoing in the hallway of the Allergy

Department.

I'm quickly losing hope of finding anyone familiar with Mia's unique needs when I'm shocked to see a familiar face. It's one of Mia's normal doctors, Dr. Marlow.

Dr. Marlow adjusted her thick-framed glasses and walked towards me with increasing speed when she sees Mia lying limply in my arms, still in wolf form.

"What happened?" Dr. Marlow asks with her distinctive calm and professional tone.

"She shifted tonight, but it was..." I try to find the words to describe watching my daughter whimper in pain all night long, unable to use her human voice to communicate where it hurt.

I blink, bringing myself back to the moment. "It was very painful for her. She passed out on the way here. It doesn't look like she can shift back."

Marlow moves fast, and I almost have to run to follow her into the treatment room, a difficult task while holding my

calls in a couple of nurses. They immediately begin placing tubes and wires all over Mia's little red and
