Chapter 369: Witch’s labyrinth

"Siren’s melody?" Inez’s head snapped up in surprise. She had to wonder if that was the case and whether her mother was indeed after the siren’s melody for her to lock her father up for so long. "Maybe..."

Killian didn’t move away, nor did she.

"The Silver Dawn Pack was strange."

He changed the topic so suddenly that Inez felt her head swoon. For a second, she had to stay put to wrap her head around the sudden change of topic. "What?" Though Inez was a bit confused, she knew that Killian wouldn’t bring up this topic for no reason.

"The pack that I was asked to investigate was really strange," he repeated.

"Strange...how...?"

He continued to stare at the wall in front of them. It was as if he was focused on something that Inez couldn’t quite see. The silence continued to stretch, and for a second, Inez thought that he might not have heard her clearly. But then his lips twitch. It was a simple movement, but Inez, for some reason, felt perfectly in sync with Killian, like she was attuned with every last tick of his muscles. Even his soft exhales and inhales, she noticed them too. As for the growing tension between the two of them? She didn’t even need to start on it.

It was so palpable that she could notice it with just a single glance.
